DJ Paul Elstak, born in The Hague on 14 January 1966, is a famous Dutch Hardcore and Happy Hardcore DJ and producer.
In 1987 he began his career as a hip-hop DJ when he was hired as a resident DJ in disco Bluetiek-Inn Rotterdam. At this club he played with the Dutch House pioneer Peter Slaghuis. During this time he also met Rob Fabrie and Richard van Naamen with whom he started the group Holy Noise. With Holy Noise he had a series of releases on the Hithouse record label (the label of Peter Slaghuis). In 1991 Holy Noise had their biggest success with the song 'James Brown is still alive. " This track was a response to the then popular track "James Brown is dead" from L.A Style. After Holy Noise, Paul started the Forze DJ Team, with whom he formed a trio with DJ Panic and DJ Lars. Paul's Apparel 'Forze', with the famous 'Wanna Play' bear was very popular at this time.
In 1992 Paul Elstak started his own label (under Mid-Town Records). In 1995 he had his first DJ Paul Elstak single titled "Life is like a dance." After this record, there followed a number of commercial songs, 'Luv U more', 'Do not leave me alone', 'The Promised Land' and of course 'Rainbow in the sky', which was the most successful. Some of his singles reached the Dutch Top 40 in the 90s. Meanwhile, this label stopped.
After the 90's:
In 2001 Paul Elstak focused mainly on Hardcore and started a new hardcore label at Rige Entertainment, called Offensive Records. Now a days Paul still releases Offensive Hardcore albums with its own unique style.
Due to the revival of Happy Hardcore and the many 90's parties he was asked for, he again started to be actively in the Happy Hardcore scene. He has a busy schedule and plays every weekend at (Happy) Hardcore and 90s parties in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. He also plays regularly in other countries of Europe. Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Scotland, Finland, Russia and Ukraine are countries where he still has many fans. His fans are everywhere, he even played in Australia and Los Angeles the last years.
On November 8, 2010 Paul produced the title song of the movie New Kids Turbo. He appears in the clip itself with a mustache in the style of the New Kids. March 26, 2011 he won a Rembrandt Award for best song title with this track and on May 12, 2011 he become awarded a gold disc. On the same day, the German version of the single Turbo released in Germany.
I Love Beatz:
In February 2013, Paul Elstak started a party called 'I Love Beatz', for fans of harder styles. Because he noticed that the audience at parties where he played liked all kinds of harder styles mixed together, he came up with this concept. Both lovers of Hardcore and Happy Hardcore, Jump, Hardstyle and Early Rave can go wild on a night of 'I Love Beatz'.
Paul Elstak his latest CD "Chase Your Dreams" is named after his son, Chase. This album was launched in 2013. End of 2013, Paul has made a remix of the song "# VFD" from Gers Pardoel and he was featured in the music video.
The single 'Raving Beats' by DJ Paul Elstak and Mental Theo ft Gin English, has been released in July 2014. The single 'Raving Beats' is a combination of the Happy Hardcore of the 90ties witch is very popular in the Netherlands.
